Rachel Katzman's debut CD "Sheep In Wolf's Clothing" was released
on Smelly Cat Records as thier first artist and produced by Tony Stram
and Rick Peterson (Rictone Productions).
Fresh out of high school Rachel showed up at my studio to do vocal
overdubs for a local punk band. She didn't know the bands songs and
was doing this as a favor for the band. From the first note she sang
I heard something unique from this untrained voice. After the session I
asked her if she would sing some compositions that I wrote since I don't
sing. That week after singing a few songs I ask Rachel if she writes.
I quickly found out how talented this 18 year old was. She played on her
guitar songs that blew me away. I realized that we needed to make a CD.
Well it was an up hill struggle, trying to find enough talented musicians who
would work long hours for no money. The equipment kept crashing but we
kept forging ahead. Hence we achieved this CD.

Everything she wrote within a three year period we recorded, along with
some cover tunes.. Enough for 3 full CD's This debut album has a very
retro feel to it. Songs from Doo whop to 70's to the 90's it's very eclectic.
Alas Rick passed away during the second album and it wasn't released.
The second album was to be a softer sound with a slower pace. We
parted as friends and Rachel is doing well with Happy Butterfly Foot
which recently released a CD. I wish her well, but I an going forward
with her second CD "IF" which will be offered here.
